Love can be painful. Who hasn't suffered a broken heart or a bruised ego? But for some animals, there is physical pain associated with courtship and romance. Animals will whack, nip, pinch and butt to get the other's attention. Some male insects, like the mantid, will even give their lives for the chance to mate.

Vote for the creature with the most creative way of making love hurt so good.
