Richard Spooner makes his first visit to the Syracuse Invitational this year. A dominant force in the West Coast show jumping scene, he is currently second in the West Coast World Cup standings. The 36-year-old Spooner entered the Grand Prix ranks in 1996. Since then he has amassed 90 World Cup Qualifier starts with an impressive 15 wins to his credit. He has competed in five World Cup Finals, the most recent in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. His highest World Cup Final placing was 12th in the 2004 final in Milan. Spooner has continued his winning ways this year with four wins since June 2006 at Spruce Meadows in Canada. Combined with a win at the Hampton Classic in New York and also in Del Mar, Calif., both in September, Spooner is on a roll.
