Beezie Madden is the top ranked rider in the United States and the highest ranked American internationally. A member of the gold medal winning team at the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens and the 2003 gold medal winning Pan American Games team, Madden recently added to her collection of medals with both an individual and a team silver from the 2006 World Equestrian Games. Beezie and Abigail Wexner's Authentic had only eight faults throughout the entire competition. To date, Madden has competed in two World Cup Finals, most recently in April in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, and has 14 wins in Nations Cup competition and eight World Cup Qualifier wins. Last year she won the $200,000 Budweiser American Invitational in Tampa aboard Authentic. Other notable finishes include the $1 Million CN International at Spruce Meadows in Canada aboard Iron Springs Farm's Judgement in 2005, a feat that she nearly duplicated this year by finishing third on Wexner's DeSilvio. In July 2006, she did manage to repeat her 2005 win in the prestigious Spruce Meadows Atco Power Queen Elizabeth II Cup, both years riding Authentic. In 2005, Madden was a contributor to the U.S. team's first place finish in the Samsung Super League, as well as the 2006 second place finish. Originally from the Milwaukee, Wis., area, Madden began competing at the Grand Prix level in 1985. Horses have been a family affair for Beezie; her parents, Joe and Kathy Patton, until recently owned a horse farm in Wisconsin, and Beezie and her husband John operate a farm in Cazenovia.
