Beezie Madden is the top ranked rider in the US and the highest ranked American rider internationally (9th). A member of the Gold Medal winning team at the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens, Madden, 41, has a career 14 Nations Cup wins and 8 World Cup qualifier wins. She was part of the 2003 Pan American Games team that brought home the Gold, and competed in the World Championships in 2003 and the 2002 World Cup Finals. 2005 has been a career high year for Beezie. In September she won the $75,000 New Albany Classic Invitational on Authentic, the Abigail Wexner-owned bay gelding and Olympic champion, and that same month won the "Million Dollar" class at Spruce Meadows in Canada aboard Iron Springs Farm’s Judgement. In July 2005, Madden won the prestigious Queen Elizabeth Cup at Spruce Meadows. Earlier in 2005, she won the $200,000 American Invitational in Tampa. She spent much of the summer in Europe helping the US team win the Samsung Superleague Nations Cup series riding Authentic, DeSilvio and Judgement. Horses have been a family affair for Beezie. Her parents, Joe and Kathy Patton, have a horse farm in Wisconsin, and Beezie and her husband John operate a farm in Cazenovia, NY and created the Syracuse Invitational several years ago.
