Christine McCrea is known as a consistent performer with Top Ten placings at many events. McCrea made a splash when she joined the United States Equestrian Team (USET) Developing Rider Tour in 1999, finishing second in the Nations Cup at the CSIO Lummen, Belgium, aboard Caraibe du Moulin.
McCrea continued her career as she represented the USET in the Samsung Super League and other CSIO competitions in 2005 and 2006. She contributed to a second place for the 2006 U.S. team in the Samsung Super League in Rome, Italy, with the U.S team finishing second overall for the season. In the 2005 Samsung Super League, McCrea and Promised Land contributed to Team Gold for the United States. At the Hampton Classic in New York, McCrea rode Vegas to wins in the $50,000 Grey Goose Grand Prix, and in Ohio, the pair won the $100,000 Wachovia Securities American Gold Cup. They also qualified for the short list for the 2006 FEI World Equestrian Games in Aachen, Germany. In both 2006 and 2007, McCrea qualified for the World Cup Finals as the seventh-ranked rider in the U.S. East Coast League.
Before going abroad in 2005, McCrea earned multiple Top Ten finishes at home, including taking second in the $75,000 Budweiser World Cup of Syracuse, third in the $50,000 Fidelity Grand Prix of Boston, fourth in the $25,000 Winter Equestrian Festival Challenge Cup Round 5 and the $100,000 Lexus National Horse Show Championship, and sixth in the $40,000 CSI-W Lexington.
McCrea is a graduate of the University of Connecticut with a major in business. She currently trains at her family's farm, Windsor Show Stables, in East Windsor, Connecticut.
