Meet Lynea Lattanzio

large text

Nominated by Lin Weller.

The Cat House on the Kings is the best-kept secret in the San Joaquin Valley, the state of California and the entire continent of America. It is on 12 acres along the Kings River and houses between 700-800 cats and kittens daily, in addition to occasional stray dogs or puppies. Over 15 years ago, Lynea Lattanzio dedicated her home, her property, her finances and her entire life to create the Cat House on the Kings, a no-kill, nonprofit, sanctuary, rescue and adoption center for cats. Lynea has saved thousands of animals from certain death at shelters, abusive homes, abandonment, etc. She vaccinates, spay/neuters, and finds homes for cats in the valley area or transports them to areas with strict spay/neuter laws. She travels to Sacramento as a strong proponent of the California Healthy Pets Act (AB1634) and educates people about the plight of overpopulated animals by having fundraising activities at the Cat House where people see and mix with 700-800 homeless animals. Lynea's strong convictions and untiring energy influences many people, including my daughter who started a high school club over 15 years ago, which today still cares for stray or injured animals and is the largest club on campus. The club has spread to an elementary school and another high school in another city. This selfless woman strongly deserves some much needed help as well as a little recognition.
