![]() Top 10 NomineesCathi Eagan is truly an inspiration to many people who work and volunteer in the animal community. She pioneered the "CanINE Express" transport project in December 2004 that provides animal transportation services to rural animal shelters. Since its inception, Cathi has saved the lives of over 3,400 shelter dogs from south central Indiana. This collaborative effort involves many Indiana and New England shelters and has caused all groups to form beneficial relationships with each other, sharing information to help us care for our animals in the best ways possible. Cathi was nominated by Jamie Robbins who says, "Cathi has donated countless hours organizing the transport each month, in addition to driving one of the transport vans on the long haul north (2,225 miles round trip) each and every month. Cathi is amazing and has inspired others to work harder to end animal overpopulation in our area. Our shelter alone now boasts a 90% out alive rate for dogs when, prior to the transport, 30-40% of our dogs were being euthanized. Her efforts have given us all hope that we CAN find homes for all of the animals in our care. Our in-house adoption numbers on dogs have increased 15% and in-house cat adoptions have increased 12.5% simply because we are not as overwhelmed as we were in the past and can now put our focus on adopting our animals into permanent loving homes. Cathi never gives up and she inspires us all to do the same. Learn more at www.canineexpress.org." |
