![]() More NomineesIn 2004, after many years of single-handedly rescuing abandoned, abused and homeless cats, Trudy Charette founded a non-profit charitable organization called the Community Cat Connection (CCC), a community-based, no-kill cat shelter in Massachusetts. The mission of the CCC is to alleviate the enormous problem of feral cat overpopulation through humane Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) operations, as well as to rescue and shelter abandoned and surrendered cats and place them in loving homes. Thanks to Trudy's leadership, vision and tireless efforts, the CCC was able to open a shelter in June of 2007, thereby helping even more cats. Since its inception, the CCC has rescued hundreds of cats and kittens and found them new homes. Trudy strives also to educate the public about the benefits of spaying/neutering their pets, low-cost veterinary care and alternatives to euthanasia. She was honored earlier this year by her community at the annual Women's Recognition Night, when she was awarded the 2008 Humanitarian Award. Tanya Obuchowski, who nominated Trudy, says, "Trudy is a true friend to all animals and her passion for saving cats and kittens has inspired many other people in the community to volunteer their help at the CCC and make life a lot better for many grateful cats and kittens." |
