Judie Brown is the founder and executive director of Caroline's Kids Pet Rescue in Mayfield Heights, Ohio. Caroline's Kids Pet Rescue owns and operates a cat-only sanctuary that houses approximately 220 cats, including ferals, cats with FIV+ (feline immunodeficiency virus) and feleuks (feline leukemia), and the elderly, many of whom would be turned away elsewhere due to age, illness or handicap (not adoptable).
Caroline's Kids Pet Rescue is, by reputation, known for its high standards of care and the fine quality of life that it provides at the sanctuary. Judie Brown inspired a community who read about Phoenix, a seal point Himalayan found nearly frozen to death on a cold and lonely rural road after being thrown out and left for dead. Weighing under 5 lbs, Caroline's Kids Pet Rescue helped Phoenix to cheat what appeared to be a definite date with a very cruel death. Phoenix is now adopted and living the charmed life, thanks to Caroline's Kids Pet Rescue.
Phoenix is just one of several inspirational stories to come out of Caroline's Kids Pet Rescue. Judie Brown's own words inspire those who care so deeply for these forgotten creatures when she says, "My goal is to have a sanctuary where the old, the sick and the totally unwanted will have a place to live out their lives. It's a terrible thing to die because no one wants you."
