Debi Bagley is a hero every day.  She is president of a non -profit organization called CATALES INC which stands for Connecticut Association To Assure Love and End Suffering. It is a rescue organization for stray, abandoned and feral cats/kittens.  Debi works for the local hospital during the day caring for hospice patients, but her passion has always been caring for animals.  She works tirelessly to assure that all the cats in her care receive necessary veterinary care including S/N and vaccines and has facilitated the trap, neuter and return of close to 500 ferals.  In the past 9 years she has placed in good homes approximately 900 cats/kittens.  She works in cooperation with the cities of Middletown and Cromwell, Connecticut animal control officers by taking in rescued cats because those towns have no shelter.

Debi has a wonderful spirit and never complains when she has to wake every two hours to bottle feed kittens in her care. Debi was featured as an Unsung Hero in the Jan. 2003 issue of Cat Fancy Magazine.  Children from the local school's vocational agricultural program come to her home to learn about responsible animal care and she has spoken to local scout troops and elementary schools about animal welfare.

Nominated by Barbara Melia, she calls Debi, "the Mother Theresa of Cats" and believes if there were more people in the world like Debi it be a wonderful place for animals and people.
