Dragon Chat, continued

type size: [A] [A] [A]

dragonlover: I simply love dragons!!! Could they have TRULY been real???
Dr. Hogarth: (laughing) Well, I love dragons too. Maybe if you believe in them, that's real enough.

Rockchick239: How difficult was it to develop the ideas on how dragons were able to fly and breathe fire?
Dr. Hogarth: The big problem was getting dragons airborne, because as we conceived them they were bigger than any flying animal that ever lived, and so bigger than would be possible to allow them to fly.

Dr. Hogarth: That was why we brought in the hydrogen factor. And hydrogen also allowed the idea of breathing fire. The big problem with fire was actually getting ignition, and so we had to bring in a catalyst there, which is why we brought in the platinum powder. As long as they didn't set themselves alight by inhaling! The biggest problem really was how to set fire to the hydrogen, because dragons didn't have a pilot light to fire up the main blast. The platinum powder does allow hydrogen to alight at room temperatures. There were problems to solve, but I believe we reached reasonable solutions to get our dragons airborne and fire-breathing.

fishey07: What is your favorite dragon?
Dr. Hogarth: I think the early dragon, the one that was fighting the Tyrannosaurus rex. It was a pretty evil beast, but pretty impressive as a dragon! I don't think I'd like to meet one, but that was most impressive.
