Feline Body Size and Shape

Size and Shape

Although wild and domestic cats may be similarly assembled, they differ considerably in their weight ranges. A typical adult house cat tips the scales at about 6 to 12 pounds. Fully-grown wild cats generally are much heavier, and variances are greater from breed to breed. They range from the mighty 700-pound Siberian tiger to the tiny wild black-footed cat, which at maturity can weigh as little as 3 pounds and is the only wild feline punier than the domestic cat.
