Creeper

Creeper, the common name of several kinds of small birds. These birds include honeycreepers, found in Hawaii and South America; the wall creeper, found in the high mountains of Europe and Asia; and tree creepers, found almost worldwide. The only creeper native to the continental United States is the common tree creeper (also called the brown creeper ). It is five inches (13 cm) long with a drab, brown back and dull white underparts. It climbs spirally up tree trunks, much like a woodpecker, using its stiff tail feathers for support.

Honeycreepers are of the families Drepanididae (Hawaii) and Emberizidae (South America). The wall creeper is Tichodroma muraria of the family Sittidae. Tree creepers are of the families Climacteridae and Certhiidae. The common tree creeper is Certhia americana of the family Certhiidae.
